The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce that 4,042 undergraduates have qualified for the Spring 2012 Dean's List. The students represent nearly all of Rhode Island's cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, and many other states and nations. To be included on the Dean's List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average. The following local students have been named to URI's Spring 2012 Dean's List:

Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its list of students that were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester.

The following local residents were recently named Charles O. Thompson Scholars at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) for the 2011-2012 academic year.

The following students from Colgate University are recipients of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2011 fall term at Colgate University. To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve a 3.30 or higher average while enrolled in four courses.

One of the approximately 70 student clubs and organizations at Eastern Connecticut State University is Eastern's MALES club. The purpose of the MALES Club is to create programs and activities that will benefit Eastern and its student body. MALES acheives this by supporting the community service projects and other events presented by already-established organizations on campus. MALES intends to improve the image, leadership qualities, and communication skills of the Eastern Connecticut State University man.

One of the approximately 70 student clubs and organizations at Eastern Connecticut State University is Eastern's Honors Club. The Honors Club provides opportunities for social, cultural, and educational interaction among members of the University Honors program, as well as interaction between the program and the campus community.

The following local residents are among those to be named to the Roger Williams University Dean's List for the Fall 2011 semester. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester, provided that they have not received any of the following grades: F, I, NP or NS.

The following local residents were among 1,151 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2011 semester.

The following students from the Colgate University Class of 2014 have been inducted into the Colgate chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the national scholastic honorary society that recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of first-year students. The approximately 150 students who received the prestigious distinction for having earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the 2010-2011 academic year were honored at a fall banquet.

It is the mission of People Helping People(PHP) to involve the students of Eastern Connecticut State University by directly engaging social issues which affect the local and global community while providing the opportunity to develop leadership and interpersonal skills.

More than 800 Eastern Connecticut State University students attended the 16th annual University's C.O.P.S. (Community-Oriented Policing for Students) Open Rec Night on Dec. 2. The evening is a substance-free event hosted by Eastern's Police Department. Open Rec Night provides Eastern students with an evening of fun and a chance to unwind in a safe setting prior to final exams. A number of students who belong to various student clubs and on-campus groups provide support services at the event.
